Welcome to My Work at Home Life!
Someone once told me that welcome is a warm feeling you get when you enter into someone's home. I feel like my website is like my home; warm and inviting with a touch of inspiration. I invite you to come in and learn as much as you can and apply it to your business and your life so that you, too, can experience and enjoy the true meaning of success.
My Work at Home Life Story!
Welcome to My Work at Home Life! I created this blog in hopes of bringing hope to those who are thinking about starting their own home based business using their unique gifts and talents. This is how I began my amazing work at home journey in 2002 and I have to say that it was the best decision I have ever made. Working for myself and designing my business my way has given me a true sense of what it means to be content.
Gifted, Talented and Highly Skilled
When I started my work at home business in September 2002, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I knew that I had a special skill set that I could use to make a lot of money. I had worked in corporate America for way too long and I was tired of going to work and being limited in terms of using my special gifts. It was like my hands were tied. I wanted to showcase my gifts and talents, but I couldn't because I had to do what I was told and that was basically just typing letters of recommendation, typing night and weekend call schedules, handing out meal tickets, recording and transcribing minutes for our quarterly clinical competency meetings and making phone calls. Even though I enjoyed the work itself, I was limited in terms of using my skills, gifts, talents and my awesome abilities.
I wanted to do greater things in my life. I deserved it and it was time for me to write the next book in my life and start a new journey that would give me the chance to do a lot of things I had been wanting to do for far too long. I had worked in corporate America long enough and the time had come for me to start my own business and be a help to those who wanted to start their own work from home journey.
Home is Where My Life Is!
Putting All the Pieces Together
Here I am preparing for success. Reading to venture into a real business of my own. I was highly equipped with most of the tools that I needed to start my work from home business:
- Knowledge
- Gifts
- Talents
- Skills
- Abilities
- Fictitious name registration/license for business
- EIN
- Computer/MS Word
- Printer (all-in-one)
- Typing paper
- Telephone
- Website
- Flyer
- Business Cards
I needed all of the above tools in order to build a thriving and highly successful business. I knew how to type typing 80 wpm (words per minute). I was fast and accurate. I also knew how to transcribe and discovered how I could transcribe without ever using tangible equipment. This is what researching is all about. I was certified in medical terminology which was another plus for me. I need to have marketing materials on hand and since I am a graphic designer I've been able to design all my own marketing tools from my headers for my website, to banners and postcards. Here are a few of the designs that I've been able to design for one of my businesses, Cyndi's Light Work Designs;
The only marketing tool that I didn't design was my business postcards. I let VistaPrint create my business cards. They have a large array of marketing materials for reasonable prices and their products look great!
In my attempt to build my work at home business, I knew that I would need to have a website presence to promote my businesses.
I began researching and reading about different companies that I could use to build a halfway decent website without knowing html. Now, there are a lot of platforms from which you can choose to build a website that looks professional and appealing to the eye. When I began building my website I used webs. I also tried WordPress, but found it to be super hard to use. I just couldn't understand or figure out how to use the dashboard that include widgets, menus and plugins. It was all too confusing to say the least and for me this was a first because I could download any software program and figure it out within a matter of hours or days, but WordPress was too difficult for me. It was a challenge that I wasn't willing to take on so I searched for other platforms and I found Weebly and Wix, both very easy to use, but I wasn't crazy about them. I kept going back to WP and then one day the light in the lamp came on and I've been using WP every since. The only thing about WP is that it is hard to drive traffic to it, but it can be done. You just have to know how to drive traffic to your site and it's easy once you have the knowledge. One thing I can tell you for sure is, in order to get a lot of traffic to your site, you must have great content and when you speak from the heart, the words just flow and bam, you've got great content. I know there's more to it than that, but this is what I believe and I believe it because I get a lot of wonderful comments about my sites. I always write from the heart because this is where my inspiration is birthed and lives.

Making Money
When my children went back to school in September 2002 that was when I opened the doors to Magic Fingers Typing Services and found immediate success. Success for me back then was spelled M-O-N-E-Y! Not anymore. Success is now spelled P-A-S-S-I-O-N because this is what I use to build my work at home businesses along with my wonderful skill set. I never ever stop building my businesses. I stay outside of the box trying new things. You could say that I am a multi-tasker and this has allowed me to really soar in my life as well as in all my businesses.
After Magic Fingers was born, not longer after I birthed Cyndi's Light Work Designs, a graphic design business that quickly became and remains my passion today.
My initial plan for CLWD was to make designs and put them on t-shirts, coffee mugs, tote bags and greeting cards, but when people saw my work, they automatically assumed that I made custom designs. It was then that I realized that I had two businesses in one. I combined the two and now I make custom designs for businesses, individuals, ministries, special occasions and causes. Here are a few of my designs that I created for breast cancer awareness:
I also make designs for Mother's Day, Father's Day and a host of other special occasions. I enjoy designed. I have a deep seeded passion for the art of design. It encompasses me with a peace I have never known. As you can see, I pour my heart, soul and spirit into every masterpiece that I create.
Spreadshirt is an easy and fun way you can earn passive income selling your own custom t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs and more. If you want to make money in the comfort of your own home, then you should check out Spreadshirt. Go here to see my clothing line.
Look below and see my G.R.A.C.E. for GIRLS t-shirt. I posted this on Facebook and got a ton of likes on this one. If you know how to use Photoshop or Gimp, you can start making your own designs, open an account at Spreadshirt and start making money today!
Another fun money making platform that I use to sell my designs is CafePress and Zazzle. Although they make and keep most of the money, I still have my shops on both platforms. My biggest seller in my Zazzle shop is my breast cancer and sickle cell awareness designs. I sell buttons, keychains, posters and more.
